Andhra to rope in IIM Bangalore for RTC revamp

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to utilise the services of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore to take up an in-depth study on how to strengthen and revitalise the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and ensure profits to the loss-making body.

The IIM would be requested to submit a report to this effect in two months time and suggest a comprehensive package to strengthen the RTC.

The idea of roping in the services of IIM Bangalore was hit upon when the Cabinet sub-committee, which has been negotiating with the Joint Action Committee of RTC trade unions on the steps to bring out the corporation from losses beside other demands, met chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here on Monday.
