High Delta Safari Park raises nearly $30,000 in auction

The exotic animals and property of the High Delta Safari Park fetched around $230,000 at a bankruptcy auction Saturday. Keith Babb, whose company handled the auction, said bidders came from Alabama, Texas, Tennessee and Florida to bid on the pieces of the bankrupt park.

The proceeds go to pay the creditors of Jeff Swank, who owned and operated the park and has been unavailable by phone since August.

Travis Broadway, a businessman from Alexandria, purchased the 40 acres of land at $132,000 and also won bids for many of the animals, according to Babb. Broadway had previously purchased the nearby Rooster’s Country Bar, another property owned by Jeff Swank.
