Delhi HC flays Delhi Police for its stand on property dispute

The Delhi High Court has criticised the Delhi police for taking different stands in the court in a 16 year-old property dispute against it for occupying a private property near Jama Masjid without paying the rent for several years.

Expressing anguish over the police attitude in refusing to pay a rent of Rs 34,800 as fixed by a committee set up by the court, the court also directed the chief secretary of Delhi government to look into the matter.

We find here that a 16-year old writ petition is pending in which different stands are sought to be taken….as in the case of Delhi Police. In view of the conflicting stands, the matter should be brought to the notice of the chief secretary, Delhi government, said a Division Bench headedby justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul in an order.

10-yr-old strangled over property dispute: Police

A 10-YEAR-OLD boy was today strangled to death over a property dispute in Pooja Colony in Loni, Ghaziabad, police said. According to police, the victim, Shahrukh, was reported missing since Tuesday night by his father. Police suspect the boy was strangled with the belt of a sewing machine. Uttar Pradesh-Delhi bus row ends, commuters relieved

New Delhi, May 19 (IANS) A six-month-old stand-off between the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments over the plying of buses in each others territory ended Saturday, spelling relief for thousands of daily commuters. The transport ministers of the two governments Saturday flagged off bus services from the Anand Vihar inter-state bus terminal in the capital. The row was solved after the Mayawati government (of Uttar Pradesh) understood the inconvenience caused to people.
