Attorney disbarred over property scam

For a couple of years before the real estate market came crashing down, a Daytona Beach attorney was hired to handle more than a dozen high-ticket real estate closings for an up-and-coming gas station owner and real estate investor.

Now the investor has left town and the attorney is disbarred for his part in a $25 million scam that left buyers holding worthless paper. The scam involved rigged sales between affiliated companies and created legal problems over ownership of one of downtown Daytona Beach’s tallest office buildings.

The local gasoline supplier, Biju Matthew Abraham, 38, has since left the area and the building his renovated offices occupied on Ridgewood Avenue, people who did business with him said.

A real estate dealer-cum-builder, Veeral Hansmukh Ajmera, wanted in connection with a land scam in the Sardar Sarovar Punarvasahat Agency(SSPA), was arrested in Mumbai by Vadodara rural police and presented in a Savli court on Friday. Noida land scam: Land records to be submitted to forensic lab

The evenue documents related to the multi-crore Noida-Delhi land grabbing scam, which came to light in March this year, will soon be submitted to a forensic lab in Agra for tests.
