Goa Marriott undergoes property revamp

Goa Marriott Resort is undergoing a complete property revamp. The renovation process will take place in three phases which will take place across rooms, public areas, banqueting and conferencing facilities. Marriott International’s spa brand Quan Spa will be introduced into the property. The hotel will also undergo a repositioning exercise after addition of the spa. The nomenclature of the hotel will be changed to Goa Marriott Resort & Spa.

Rajat Chatterjee, General Manager, Goa Marriott Resort, said, The property is around ten years old and we wanted to renew it to match it with the contemporary times. We aim to transform the product to cater to all age groups. In the first phase, the hotel will renovate the lobby, banqueting, 54 rooms and the pool deck. This phase is expected to be ready by year-end. In the consequent phases, the hotel will introduce integrated kids rooms with an aim to attract the family segment. In 2010, plans are in the pipeline to redo the interiors of the Chinese restaurant Wan Hao and its seafood restaurant Simply Fish.

After renovating its conferencing and banqueting facilities, the hotel aims to cater to the wedding segment aggressively. We want to market the property as a wedding destination, while retaining our corporate and leisure guests, added Chatterjee. It aims to sell the product in conjunction with wedding planners and other B2B partners. There are plans to conduct joint promotions by integrating it with the website of the partner companies. The company aims to complete the entire renovations by end of 2010. By then, Chatterjee expects the tourism market in Goa to undergo revival.
