Hry to build 8,000 flats in NCR areas

In a move expected to fetch the incumbent government much-sought votes, poll-bound Haryana has entered into an agreement with colonizers to provide affordable housing to middle and lower middle class under public private partnership mode.

The Haryana Housing Board is in the process of inviting expressions of interest for building 8,000 flats in the national capital region (NCR) areas falling in the state.

The housing units planned under the project would be in addition to the 38,000 planned in NCR in the next two years.

The project, following chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s assurance to developers that steps would be taken to counter the slump in real estate market, will also fulfil his commitment of providing affordable housing to locals, especially those in NCR cities of Gurgaon and Faridabad. Among the other areas selected for the project are Bawal, Badhi (Sonepat) and Karnal.

For a scheme launched by NBCC for 800 affordable flats in Delhi NCR, it received around 20,000 applications — 25 times the number of flats up for sale — NBCC CMD
