The Empire State Building is getting an energy makeover that Johnson Controls Inc. hopes will demonstrate that even big old buildings can go green.
The Glendale-based company has won a contract to guide the $20 million project, which includes replacing thousands of windows, installing digital controls and rebuilding the chiller that provides air conditioning to the 102-story skyscraper in New York City.
The project, announced Monday, is designed to reduce energy consumption in the building by 38% and save $4 million a year in costs.

The 3C Company, a Noida-based developer, has announced the launch of Lotus Boulevard, a 40-acre residential project which will be one of the largest green residential estates, according to a press release from 3C.
