At least five crorepatis are contesting in the Assembly elections from Ganjam district’s 13 segments. A total of 96 candidates are in the fray from the district for April 16 Assembly elections.
First in the list is BJD’s Sugnana Kumari Deo, who is also the Rani of Khallikote. The eight-time MLA, who is contesting from Kabisurya Nagar Assembly constituency, owns property worth around Rs 8.83 crore. She is followed by chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, who owns property worth around Rs 7.90 crore.
Kishor Chandra Singhdeo, the scion of Dharakote royal family and the sitting MLA from Surada and his wife Nandini Devi also own over Rs 2 crore property individually. Kishore Chandra Singhdeo is contesting from Sanakhemundi on a BJP ticket.
