Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Sub District Magistrate of Ghaziabad has penalised leaders, including BJP president Rajnath Singh, and political parties for defacing public property in the area.
Besdies Rajnath Singh, who is contesting from Ghaziabad, Congress candidate Surendra Goyal and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Amarpal Singh were sent notices, asking them to shell the fine imposed for defacing public property and warning them not to violate the guidelines of the Election Commission.
Rajnath Singhs name was painted on a wall in Bhambhata area of Ghaziabad. The painting was 1100 sq feet broad, so he was fined Rs 1 per sq feet, Additional District Magistrate Sunil Kumar Srivastava said.
