Singapore’s Keppel Land closes new real estate fund at $1.2 billion

Singapore property developer Keppel Land Limited said its unit, Alpha Investment Partners Ltd., has
closed its new real estate fund after raising $1.2 billion from institutional investors.

The new fund, called Alpha Asia Macro Trend Fund, will invest in real estate across Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong as well as China, India and Vietnam.

Alpha Investment, a wholly owned real estate fund management arm of Keppel Land, has more than 45 properties in eight countries in its portfolio.

Merrill Lynch has raised a $2.65 billion (1.5 billion pound) fund to invest in Asian real estate, tapping global investors despite global financial turmoil and falling property markets.
